Dr Gracia Kanakana

PhD Engineering

Dr Kanakana Katumba holds D-Phil in Engineering Management from the University of Johannesburg, Masters in business management from NMMU and a B-tech in industrial engineering from Pretoria Technikon. She is currently busy with a masters in Open distance education at the University of Oldenburg, Germany. Before that, she served as a Deputy Executive Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology at Unisa. She joined TUT in 2007 as a part-time lecturer. She has been in higher education for 13 years serving in different portfolios such as lecturer, Head of Department, and Assistant Dean Teaching and Learning at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment at the Tshwane University of Technology. She is a researcher in the field of process optimisation, Engineering Education and Smart manufacturing. To date, she has supervised seven masters students and 1 PhD student. She has authored 11 accredited journal articles and 30 international and local conference papers, and two book chapters. She is a reviewer for two scientific journals and has organised two international conferences in industrial engineering and one local conference for the South African Institute of Industrial Engineering. She is also a Lean Six Sigma black belt and has facilitated many Lean Manufacturing and Lean Six Sigma workshops locally and internationally. She has served at many industry boards; amongst them are VIP Consulting and Prevail Engineering. She served as a council member for TUT from 2014 to 2015 and the SAIIE council from 2010 to 2013. She is now the Executive Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and the Built environment at TUT.

Tshifhiwa Nenzhelele

At Advanced Degree in Engineering

Mr. Tshifhiwa Nenzhelele is an experienced academic with almost 24 years of teaching experience. He is currently a Lecturer and a Head of Department in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Tshwane University of Technology. Mr. Nenzhelele has industry experience in Automotive as well as Steel Manufacturing industries. Mr Nenzhelele has lead projects such as the design of a Packhouse under Iproeng as well as training in Lean Management. Mr. Nenzhelele holds different qualifications including a National Diploma and B: Tech in Industrial Engineering, B: Tech in Project Management, Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration. He has various certificates including Lean production, Simulation Modelling, Teaching with Simulations, Management services (Workstudy) as well as ISO9001. Mr Nenzhelele has served as a marker, e-tutor and moderator in higher institutions such as the University of Johannesburg and UNISA. Mr Nenzhelele is at an advanced stage of his Doctoral degree in Engineering.

Mr. Nenzhelele is a registered Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA as well as a member of the South African Institute of Industrial Engineers. Mr. Nenzhelele serves as an accreditation and registration officer at ECSA.
